We don’t ordinarily run Holiday Camps for teenagers – only specialist workshops, but for Summer 2020 we have a specially designed Songwriting & Music Production Camp planned to keep you occupied and upskilling in the long school holidays! Please note: There will be no in class singing during this programme due to gov. directives

Programme Description

This song-writing and electronic music production workshop caters for the absolute beginner with a free version of garage band on their iPad, all the way to more serious composers and those interested in refining and polishing their mixing and production skills in Logic or Protools while exploring harmony or compositional form.

Even without any music theory knowledge or ability to play an instrument, we can immediately having fun with the world of sound-sets and instrument samples available online.

Beginners:
1. Learn how to compose your own songs on garage band using loops and other easy and fun ways to harness the power of digital technology in learning.
2. Understand the basics of song-writing and composition.
3. Have the opportunity to be coached and guided to complete a basic song of your own in a week.

Intermediate:
1. Turn your existing song ideas into something truly special and exciting to listen to.
2. Discuss and explore concepts of composition with a focus on basic harmony and melody writing.
3. Polish your lyric-writing ability through word play and rhythm exploration.
4. Learn how to add acoustic elements into your electronic compositions.

Advanced:
1. Explore concepts of arrangement and instrumentation in electro-acoustic composition.
2. Create a group composition project in tandem with your workshop instructor.
3. Refine skills in automation, mixing and effects processing.
4. Create a new composition or song inspired by the lessons learned from the group and guided by your instructor.

Tools Needed

You will need to bring a computer, or an iPad – with free software Garage Band downloaded.

unless explicitly stated otherwise as our East Coast Centre (5000G Laguna Park, Marine Parade Road)

Class Size

Centre Stage have always maintained small class sizes. As of now we will run these camps with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 12 students.

A note about covid 19 measures

In light of the current covid-19 situation globally, it’s very important everybody coming to our centres understand the measures we have in place, and the measures we expect you all to adhere to. More detailed instructions of new measures we have in place for Phase 2 will be sent to you once you’ve signed up for a particular camp.

KEY PLOT POINTS:

– Please check your temperature BEFORE coming to the centre – if it is 37.5 or above, it is considered a fever, so please stay home
– Please stay home if you, or a family member, is exhibiting any respiratory symptoms

MEASURES ALREADY IN PLACE:
– Regular disinfecting of all areas
– Hand sanitiser in all studios, waiting areas and offices
– Hand washing posters throughout the centre, and increased vigilance from all teachers on ensuring students are regularly washing their hands
– Daily temperature checks for all staff
– Thermometers available for teachers to check student temperatures
– Regular health checks for staff
– Monitoring of travel declaration forms
– Small class sizes [No more than 12]
– SafeEntry checking in and out of our centres

CANCELLATION POLICY:
As the situation is constantly evolving, there is always the outside possibility this camp will need to be cancelled. If we do need to cancel the camp as a result of government intervention we will offer:
A) A suitable online alternative
B) A class credit
C) A full refund
