Centre Stage @ Saturday Night Fever – Opening Night
Team Centre Stage is very proud of our beautifully turned out Musical Theatre Workshoppers
interviewing and hosting at the opening night of Saturday Night Fever @ Marina Bay Sands, Mastercard Theatre last night (Friday 25th September).
They had everyone up and engaging with themselves as well as the fabulous collection of wigs on offer and were a total credit to us, themselves and their parents!
Photos and footage soon to follow but below is a sneak peak of our night on the Red Carpet…

MasterCard Theatres presents SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER the Musical at Marina Bay Sands, featuring an international cast from the United States and Manila! The iconic disco film depiction of the uncompromisingly sordid 1970’s New York
not only made a dance revolution at that time, but also spoke directly to a generation of lost, struggling young adults. Gone amiss in the earlier deliberately more family-friendly film-to-stage adaptations of the famed movie musical, which propelled John Travolta to superstardom and made he music of The Bee Gees instant cult classics, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER’s gritty legacy is what Atlantic Theatrical Entertainment Group (ATEG) is bringing it back to the stage!
SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER which features popular songs from the film such as “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night Fever,” “More Than A Woman,” “Tragedy,” “Disco Inferno,” “How Deep is Your Love,” and “You Should Be Dancing,” is set in 1976 and follows the story of Tony Manero, a young wannabe disco king who comes from a tough neighbourhood in Brooklyn. Every Saturday night at a local discotheque, Tony dons his flares and struts his stuff on the dance floor – causing a stir as he wows the crowd with his extraordinarily rare dance strokes. When Tony meets office worker-turned-dancer Stephanie Mangano, both train together for a dance competition, which will eventually change the course of their lives!
“ATEG has been chosen for the high standard it has achieved with some of the best Broadway shows,” says Patrick Bywalski, deputy chairman of The Robert Stigwood Organisation. “The first-class creative team ATEG has assembled for this never-before-seen, revamped production of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER in Asia will deliver a thrilling experience. So bring the white suit out and your boogie shoes.”
Don’t miss one of the most loved dance stories of all time, with shows starting just around the corner! Shows are from Friday 25th September 2015 and discounts are available for Centre Stage students for through the link above! Grab them while you still can!
Student Testimonials on our experiences at Saturday Night Fever:
“I had a lovely time on Friday night. It was really cool and fun to be a part of the media team, and to get people to come take pictures at the photo booth before the show. I also really enjoyed the show itself, I thought especially the big dance numbers were outstanding. I had an amazing time, and I’m really thankful that Base and MBS gave me the opportunity to be apart of the experience.”

“I just wanted to say a big thank you to Centre Stage and BASE entertainment for the opportunity to go to Saturday Night Fever on Friday night. I had such a great time and it was such a valuable experience to get to entertain and interact with the audience. Interviewing and taking pictures with the audience was so enjoyable and it was absolutely hilarious watching the audience get dressed up in wigs and do their best Saturday Night Fever pose. The show itself was amazing and it had us all dancing in our seats! Watching the passion in the performer’s as they danced, sang and acted was extremely inspiring and magical. I absolutely loved the group dances and the singing was incredible. Thank you again for the opportunity, it truly was a wonderful experience.”

“Friday night’s opening of ‘Saturday Night Fever’ was an unforgettable experience that enabled us to be introduced to Asia’s Musical Theatre industry. Being part of the Media team for this event allowed us to understand how the industry operated as a whole, which was enlightening for all since we had never had an opportunity like this before, the opportunity of being able to interview audience members, take photos of them and with them. It was a lovely way to have us take part in the event and was lots of fun for us all! We are so grateful for Centre Stage and Base Asia for enabling us to take part in such a great experience. Sitting in the seats ‘reserved for media’ made us all realise how lucky we are to watch this show which was full of slick dance moves and songs that made us boogie in our seats. It was truly and inspiring night – we all felt at home the moment we set foot into the Mastercard Theatres. What a night!”

“As a Musical Theatre student myself, one of the most important things I can do to advance in the craft is to watch as much musical theatre as I can, and having the opportunity to do so and be part of the fun atmosphere at Saturday Night Fever was such an amazing experience for me. An exciting, jam-packed night guaranteed to get you up out of your seat and dancing! A huge thank you to Centre Stage and Base Asia for the chance to contribute to the energy at SNF and to see the amazing show!”
– Mica Anderson, 16
“Not only was it a great night out to see an amazing show filled with fantastic musical numbers, but also the chance to feel important and behave professionally in a public environment really increased my interaction levels, as I had to converse with audience members whilst waiting for the show to begin. Furthermore, I was allowed to strengthen my interest in filming and photography, as I was given the opportunity to work with this equipment. Having this privilege increased the enjoyability of the show, as I felt a sense of importance in being there. I am thankful for being given the chance to have that feeling.”
