An introduction to the world of beats, rhythm and noise! Our exciting programme – UpBeat! explores the exhilarating world of group drum and percussion.
In this on-going course students explore all aspects of rhythm. This includes drumming to music, solos, body percussion, movement, alternative instruments and preparing a percussive performance, while continuing to develop skills and drum techniques. The emphasis is on enjoyment of rhythm, group collaboration and making noise!
In UpBeat! Level 1 the students start with the basics of rhythm and drumming techniques. They use instruments from all over the world (including congas, bongos, djembes and Brazilian percussion) to create traditional, carnival-style, as well as their own group rhythms.
