Background: Ali worked as an actor in the UK for 10 years before moving to Singapore, where she set up Centre Stage with Pete in 1999. Ali’s professional career began in Panto – as Daisy the Cow, in Leatherhead. (Side bar: she insisted the back is the comedy end!) Some of her favourite theatre roles have included, Shriley in “Top of the Town”, Nicholas Tooley – A Shakespearean Boy Player in “A Cry of Players”, UK Toyr. These were original and new works so Ali particularly loved being part of the development of these characters and working alongside the writers and directors. Other favourite roles include – Mum/Jo in “Too Much Punch” a TIE touring production, and Viola in “Twelfth Night”.

After a break from Acting, Ali retrained as a teacher, opened Centre Stage in 1999 as a place where children could explore both the concrete and imaginative world. Ali has continued to perform alongside running Centre Stage over her time in Singapore, favourite roles include: Landlady “Two” – Ensemble Theatre Company and Gail in “Teachers” – directed by Hannah Chiswick. For Centre Stage: PC Jolly Berry in “A Christmas Carrot” and Hairy Godmother in “A Right Rubbish Christmas” pantos. Her ultimate favourite role every though, is to “mum” to her two boys Alfie & Billy.
