On Stage (Musical Theatre) is designed specifically for young performers who show promise and who are keen to develop their skills. The course offers two performances a year, one edited production of a scripted musical and a studio project.

Auditions

In order to maintain a high standard, performers must audition for this course and it must be noted that if a performer is accepted on the course there must be a high level of commitment and attendance.

Please note, in order for Centre Stage to maintain these standards we can only take those who show particular promise. Students should therefore be advised that they might not be accepted on the course. If this is the case, then we recommend that the student should continue hourly classes in order to further develop their skills.

Actors must prepare:

1. A dramatic monologue of their own choice no more than four minutes in length. The monologues must be performed from memory and should include any moves or actions appropriate to the piece. The actors might also be re-directed or asked to improvise; no preparation is necessary for this part of the audition. See below for suggested monologues

2. A song. Ideally the song should be drawn from a musical theatre show and can accompanied by a backing track (optional). Alternatively, any song will do that shows your voice off well, we suggest you avoid contemporary R & B.
