Name: Aaron Cheang
Role: Drama Teacher
Teaches: Creative Drama, Trinity / LAMDA Syllabus
Qualifications: BA (Hons) Drama, Applied Theatre & Education, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
International Baccalaureate Career Related Diploma (Theatre), School of the Arts, Singapore.
Background: A trained actor, director, writer, and facilitator, Aaron always had an inclination toward theatrical forms intended for the welfare of others. He has worked with marginalised communities around Singapore, which inspired his studies in the United Kingdom. He plans to develop this further and use theatre to engage the underprivileged and at-risk youths, to enable them to share their stories, hopefully empowering them in the process. His dream is for future generations to grow up in a society that is accepting and inclusive. At the Royal Central, he specialised in Applied Theatre making him an ideal choice for a Creative Drama teacher as this style of working is particularly suited to building self-esteem, communication and thinking skills in children.
Aaron also advocates for theatre-based education as an alternative mode of education for students that do not benefit from the traditional education taught at most schools.
On the occasional off day, you would catch him writing stage plays, poems, cycling, and bouldering!
