Background: Ai Wen is a graduate of Lasalle College of the Arts with a B.A. (Hons) in Musical Theatre that was awarded by London’s prestigious Goldsmiths. She has been teaching musical theatre to students of all ages, especially children, since graduating. Ai Wen is also very involved in Singapore’s performing industry. Her performing experience includes being Singapore’s Rehearsal Liesl in the Broadway Asia Tour of “The Sound of Music” and Ensemble/Understudy(Jane & Ma) for Bitesize’s first staging of their original musical “Monster in the Mirror”. She is also currently Cheryl in MediaCorp’s long form drama “Sunny Side Up”. Ai Wen believes that by being a constant performer herself, she can share with her students lessons and experiences that are realistic and current.

Ai Wen not only enjoys teaching children but also learning from them. She strongly believes that children can help adults relearn the importance of curiosity and spontaneity; two qualities that are essential in performance. She hopes that by being an educator of children, she is able to instil a love and respect for the theatrical arts in the younger generation, so that the performing arts scene in Singapore can continue to grow and flourish.

In her free time, Ai Wen loves to sing, paint and sew!
